Take your childhood fascination with quartz and make it fashion. A chic strand of graduated, faceted quartz beads, each one catching the light like ocean waves reflecting the early morning sun.

Quartz, also known as rock crystal in the jewel world, is one of the most abundant minerals in the Appalachian Mountains. Over the eons, weathering and erosion have carried quartz-rich sediment downstream toward the coast, eventually deposited on the famously fine, pale sands of the southeastern Atlantic coast. If you put sand under a microscope, you’d see something not too dissimilar from these crystal beads.

Strung on white cord and hand knotted, this mid-century necklace lets you carry some of the landscape with you, from mountains to coast.
